Survey – SpeakOut. hearing minority ethnic families experiences of family support

Quick Navigation

Jan 24 2022

Introduction

Families come in many forms and all work differently, according to beliefs, history, culture and a million other things that make them special.

Most families need some support from time to time - be it with mental health, being constantly sad or worried, getting angry easily, smoking or drinking, school bullying or difficulty with family relationships. This support can be formal or informal – friends, family members, or professionals may have offered their support.

The Early Intervention FoundationAction for Children and The Race Equality Foundation have partnered up to provide a space for Black, Asian and minority ethnic families to share their stories about seeking support. We believe that EVERY family should be able to get the support they need, when they need it, no matter the colour of their skin or background.

We want to hear about your experiences and ideas about what would make the support available to you better. If you’ve wanted help, where did you go? Was the support offered helpful? Did you feel welcome and included? Did you experience discrimination? What would improve this for other families in the future?

We will listen to what everyone tells us and use this information to provide advice to the government and organisations that work with families to help make things better. We will share the results on this website in Spring 2022. If you have any questions about this work, you can contact the team at speakout@eif.org.uk.
