As you know INSPIRE now includes the Joint Communication Team to provide Specialist intervention for pupils with Speech Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).
SENCOs have received the information and details of the FREE Training opportunities and offer of the Primary iCAN Progression Tool
We would ask HTs to encourage school staff to take up this opportunity of Free Training, the Screening Tool and continued support from INSPIRE JCT.
The INSPIRE Service strives to support Early Identification & Early Intervention for pupils with SEND. Therefore, we are pleased to be able to offer your school the iCAN Progression Tools to support you with Early Identification of Speech, Language & Communication Needs. The Tool will also inform your plans and subsequent implementation of Early Interventions which could include:
The iCAN Progression Tool has been fully funded by the LA and will be available to schools once they have completed the training sessions as detailed below delivered by the SLCN Specialist team who will then also follow up and support you with your planning and interventions/strategies implementation for the identified SEN Support cohort.
The school to commit to:
✓ at least 3 staff from teaching & support to attend and complete both training sessions.
✓ a named Lead Practitioner to oversee, monitor and review program
✓ provide INSPIRE JCT with pilot data to support development of SLCN Service offer
INSPIRE JCT to commit to:
✓ deliver training program with flexible dates/times
✓ provide schools with iCAN Progression Tool following completion of training
✓ provide weekly ‘surgery’ to support use of Tool/Interventions
✓ visit schools to support development of Action Planning & Outcomes
✓ deliver trainings for specific targeted interventions as determined by screening
✓ monitor and review outcomes and support ‘next steps’
