The DfE statutory School Workforce (SWF) census enumeration day for 2021 is Thursday 4 November 2021. It is a mandatory data collection which covers all English schools in the maintained sector; the deadline for submitting the returns via the DfE school to school (s2s) website is Friday 19 November 2021.

Could we ask that if you expect any queries or errors to be flagged up once we upload your submission that you kindly provide an e-mail note prior to submission containing confirmation or reasons to the address above, as unfortunately there is no way for the local authority to pick up information from the cover page of your management information system.

All workforce data is owned by the school and consequently it will be the school’s responsibility to ensure that the appropriate data is collected and stored on SIMS. You should also ensure that Privacy Notices (sample attached, which you can use and/or adapt) have been issued to all staff; the DfE link below gives further information if useful.

Note that the local authority may send through data reports in relation to census from time to time. Please let us know if you have any queries.
