Phonics Screening Check Data Collection

Quick Navigation

Nov 12 2021

The phonics screening check is an annual statutory data collection that normally takes place in June. Its completion is required by law unless there’s a very good reason not to.

Cancellation of the phonics screening check in June 2021 means incoming year 2 pupils did not take the check in year 1. In the 2021 to 2022 academic year, it is statutory for schools to administer a past version of the phonics screening check to year 2 pupils during the second half of the 2021 autumn term and return results to their local authority.

Can we please ask that schools send us all their data files via DfE S2S by: Monday 13 December at 1pm

We strongly encourage earlier submission, where possible, to give us time to process your results and make the usual checks. We will be accepting submission from Monday 6th December onwards.

Once you have submitted your data files , you will need to log in to Perspective Lite, as in previous years, to check and confirm your summary data. Should you require technical assistance please contact your MIS Support (usually the 3BM Support team help@strictlyeducation3bm.co.uk or call the Helpdesk on 0207 605 8322).

Please contact Nikita.Khasriya@lbhf.gov.uk Constance.Devys@lbhf.gov.uk or our generic mailbox Edu_data_team@lbhf.gov.uk if you have any other queries or issues.

DfE Statutory guidance on how to administer the phonics screening check to year 2 pupils in the autumn 2021 term can be found here

Please see the DfE phonics screening check materials here. These materials are published to help teachers and pupils become familiar with the phonics screening check, and to enable teachers to score their pupils’ performance once the check has been administered.
