This course focuses on developing a deeper understanding of the causes of reading difficulties in learners with SEND and provides evidence-based strategies for assessing and addressing those difficulties.
It aims to develop a deeper understanding of
•The common reading difficulties that students with SEND may face
•How to assess reading difficulties using assessment tools and strategies that ensure accessibility is built in from the start
•Using methods to assess learners who may be pre-verbal or have communication and language needs
•The importance of appropriate intervention programs and approaches
•Developing inclusive ordinarily available provision based on universal design for learning
•Understand the role of technology in supporting reading instruction for all learners
The session aims to equip all staff with a knowledge of how to ensure accessibility, confidence, and engagement for all learners within the amazing world of literacy!
