A Communication Friendly Environment is a space that encourages and promotes good communication. This approach focuses on the role of the environment in supporting speaking and listening skills, emotional well-being, physical development and general engagement. The environment in which a child learns can be an important factor in supporting their communication and language development.

This course will provide an opportunity to consider how to go about creating a Communication Friendly Environment including

Layout, Lighting, Space, Choice, Noise Levels, Visual Aids, Visual Distraction, Clear and Consistent Routines, Adults Roles, Creating Opportunities (e.g. spaces for two children, group interactive spaces) and provide practitioners with a guide to setting up Communication Friendly Environments within their own settings.

The course will build on the revised EYFS approach to curriculum and how core provision is part of that experience for children
