1. New to DT subject leadership – November 3rd

What is Design and Technology? Where do I begin?

Will there be a finished product? Should I buy kits? How do I know what’s happening across the school?

Do I need to be an expert?

These questions and more will be unpicked in this session which is aimed to support new to DT subject leaders develop the skills and expertise to become an effective leader and make an impact beyond their own classroom.

2. DT Practicalities and Progression (with a focus on textiles, mechanisms and structures) – March 2nd

In this session, we’ll explore how we can ensure there is clear progression of skills being developed within lessons and across year groups.

With a focus on textiles, mechanisms and structures, we’ll also consider the practicalities of a DT lesson; purchasing resources,

recording evidence, building on prior learning and classroom management.

3. Quality assuring your DT curriculum- June 8th

In this session we will look at how we can assess teaching and learning to quality assure the curriculum. This will include the use of books or portfolios to gauge how well pupils have deepened their understanding, are building on prior learning and able to use the skills acquired to tackle more complex challenges.

Pupil Book Study will be explained and modelled to demonstrate how to evaluate the impact of the curriculum through questioning, developing pupil conversation and reflecting on learning.
