The teaching and learning of early reading presents particular challenges relating to the possible ways of approaching phonics in a pedagogically sound way. This course addresses these issues, encompassing how early reading and phonics can be taught in a way that builds upon the science of learning insights and towards enhancing engagement, which is often a crucial factor. The course will highlight what engages young children in learning and how the teaching of early reading can utilise the children’s interests to set up the best conditions and environments for development.
The course will include:
- practical ideas and resources to promote reading and early literacy
- how to engage the ‘reluctant’ reader
- follow up session to support imbedding practice
this is a face-to-face session which will be held at Randolph Beresford Early Years Centre
Venue: RBEYC
