Primary Fieldwork is the reason our facilitator Nell chose an outdoor career path: these early experiences can be life changing!
This course is a practical and in at the deep-end session giving you plenty of opportunities to take part in fieldwork and heaps of ideas to take away with you! We hope to send you on your way motivated to plan some ambitious, exciting and practical geography for the children in your school.
Additional session to complement: Fieldwork foundations 1530 to 1730 Tues 2nd May 2023:
Fieldwork is motivating for children, fun to facilitate, a key part of the Geography Programme of Study, valued by OFSTED and offering children real-world experience. But where do you start?
This course has been devised to support teachers with starting out on this journey and complements the ‘Ideas for Primary Geography Fieldwork’ course that is offered on 21.10.21: we plan for no overlap between the two. This Fieldwork Foundations course focuses on i) signposting you to all of the key information that you will need to help you plan your own, appropriate fieldwork for children in your school and ii) generating your own fieldwork ideas that work well for your particular set of circumstances, whereas the Ideas for Primary Geography Fieldwork course is a practical, hands-on session where we share mountains of ideas that you will need to develop to suit your own setting.
