In this course you help you become more familiar with the revised EYFS and Birth to 5 Matters guidance (including the online resource) and share some of the key research and evidence behind the mathematics section of the document.  You will be invited to explore the essential elements of a pedagogically responsible maths curriculum for the under 5s and how the revised EYFS and Birth to 5 Matters can support you to build rich maths teaching and learning opportunities. 

The course will:

• Help you develop your mathematical subject knowledge
• Share current research and thinking around young children’s counting and the essential principles
• Give practical advice to take back to your settings, based in evidence to support your children to become confident mathematicians.

This is a face-to-face session and will be held at Randolph Beresford Early years Centre.
