The agenda, themes discussed will be informed by the Chairs themselves so that it remains current and meets the needs of the governors. Additional suggestions for specific subjects to be on the agenda can be requested by the Chairs for inclusion in the network meeting. It will start the year with induction for new chairs and prospective chairs (full board or committee).

Induction includes information on the role of the Chair, what is expected of the role and how to develop an effective relationship with the Headteacher, the governing body and the school staff.

The session will help with developing the skills needed to manage a governance meeting, whether it be the full board or a committee to ensure meetings are planned well and managed effectively:

• How to plan effectively
• Managing the meeting
• Facilitating opportunities for all members to participate
• Holding the Headteacher to account and showing challenge
