he value of the outdoors can be easily incorporated within your offer to children throughout the year, with new opportunities for play and learning presenting themselves on a seasonal basis. This course will emphasise the value of outdoor play through establishing a foundation of understanding of why the outdoors matters and by providing practical examples for improving your practice and pedagogy. The sessions will cover:
- Why the outdoors matters – and the importance of this to promoting health, wellbeing, and learning experiences for children
- Develop a greater understanding of what needs to be in place for the best provision in the early years, including the basic roles and responsibilities for adults working in their professional contexts
- How each season can offer alternative possibilities for outdoor enrichment: the four seasons will be considered so that your use of the outdoors can be maximised for the benefit of the children in your care.
- How to use everyday objects and events to promote learning in the outdoors
