A message from Amanda Spielman (Her Majesty's Chief Inspector)

Dear colleagues

The Prime Minister announced last night a range of new measures in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant.​

They include:

• From Monday, office workers who can work from home should do so.
• From tomorrow, mandatory face coverings will be extended to most public venues, including theatres and cinemas.
• From next week, the NHS Covid pass will be mandatory for entry into nightclubs and venues where larger crowds gather.

The Prime Minister said these measures will be reviewed regularly and they will be guided by four key factors: the efficacy of vaccines, the severity of Omicron, the speed of its spread and the rate of hospitalisations.
