Children and Young People’s Mental Health Upcoming Virtual Events from NHS NW London

We are pleased to share details about upcoming virtual events and webinars on Disordered Eating in children and young people (CYP), and the launch of the CYP Mental Health Equalities Listening project report. These events are hosted by the Children and Young People’s mental health team at Transformation Partners in Health and Care, formerly known as Healthy London Partnership. Disordered Eating Webinar: Improving referrals and supporting young people

Date: Thursday February 2nd 2023.  Time: 2:30-4pm

Audience: This event is suitable for school leaders, teachers, GP’s, youth workers, parents and carers.

This webinar will help professionals working with young people and families to better improve their understanding of disordered eating. The webinar will explore the key principles and learning from our recently published Disordered Eating Guidance in more detail.

Aims:

  • Raise awareness of Disordered Eating
  • Improve understanding of the referral process for Disordered Eating and Eating Disorders
  • Improve support for young people and families before, during and after any treatment

Disordered Eating Webinar: Effective approaches and joint working

Date: Tuesday February 28th 2023

Time: 2-3:30pm

Audience: This event is suitable for health professionals supporting young people with disordered eating including CAMHS, Paediatrics, Community Eating Disorder services, alternatives to admissions, DBT teams, Neurodiversity teams.  

Aims:  This webinar will support health professionals to improve their understanding of disordered eating and explore joint working approaches. The webinar will explore the key principles and learning from our recently published Disordered Eating Guidance in more detail.

  • Raise awareness of Disordered Eating Guidance
  • Share practice on joint working approaches between teams (mental/physical health teams, inpatient/community/alternatives to admission)
  • Share practice on management approaches from referral, treatment to recovery

Launch event for the CYP Mental Health Equalities Listening project report

Date:  Tuesday 14th March 2023  Time: 3:30pm-5pm.

Audience: This event is open to all and will include a panel discussion with young people. Please spread the word!

Aims:  The listening project was a collaboration between Black Thrive, Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind and Partnership for Young London with Transformation Partners in Health and Care to understand the experience of mental health service provision and hear the views of young people from Asian, Black and Latin American backgrounds.

The report outlines the findings and insights from the listening project. It includes personal stories from young people, a set of recommendations for system leaders and service providers as well as a set of examples of good practice to offer guidance in how to address avoidable health inequalities that our young people are experiencing with their mental health and experiences of service provision in London.

  • To share the findings from the listening project and launch the insight report.
  • Share positive practice examples of what services and systems could consider the mental health and wellbeing of young people from Asian, Black and Latin American backgrounds.
  • Explore the recommendations and actions from the listening project and next steps locally and regionally.

Great Mental Health  (GMHD), facilitated regionally by Thrive LDN and Good Thinking, is taking place on 27 January 2023. The day aims to get Londoners talking about their mental health and wellbeing and raises awareness of the great services, resources and initiatives available. Great Mental Health Day 2023 will celebrate the power of community kindness and how Londoners have come together for one another.
