Jan 27 2023

The Schools/ Settings of Sanctuary Award is given by the City of Sanctuary movement to providers that have consistently put the sanctuary principles into practice, to welcome asylum seekers and refugees.

Please read message from Phil Tomsett, Head of Early Years at H&F:

Dear early years provider,

We would encourage all LBHF early years providers to apply to become an Early Years Provider of Sanctuary.  All primary and secondary schools as well as further education establishments in the borough will also be encouraged to apply.  Please refer to the attached presentation for more information.:  School of Sanctuary Process

The Early Years Service are aware that many of our early years providers already meet many, if not all the criteria to become a Early Years Provider of Sanctuary.  We would therefore encourage that you apply for this award and promote the work that you are doing to welcome and support asylum seekers and refugees.

Why become an Early Years Provider of Sanctuary?

To:

  • Engage families and strengthen the setting’s role in the community
  • Promote well-being and community cohesion by building empathetic early years environments
  • Build an inclusive and supportive early years community
  • Join Hammersmith & Fulham’s commitment to achieve City of Sanctuary status
