Please see update below from Childcare Works:
Since January 2024, we have been supporting DfE, local authorities, and providers with the national roll out of the expansion of early years, and the creation of wraparound childcare. A key element of the Childcare Works programme is provider support for early years and wraparound providers. We offer this in a variety of ways:
A key principle of our work is to consult and involve key partners to trial and test our plans and delivery, and to listen to how our work is helping, and to identify and fill gaps. We have held two meetings already, and we would like to extend an invitation to include you to consider becoming a member of a forum. Meetings are attended on a voluntary basis and are typically held online (Teams) for 90 minutes.
Does that sound like something you would be interested in supporting us and DfE with? Or are there other colleagues you feel would be able to support us? Do let us know, and we would be happy to discuss this further if that would be helpful. Who to contact: cevil.bishop@coramhempsalls.org.uk
We convene these groups one per quarter for many reasons:
Wraparound group providers |
EY group (chain) providers |
Schools |
Key purpose:
The forum informs Childcare Works’ provider support activity. The group should represent a cross section of providers in order to bring a range of views and experience. To do this the group will:
a) critically review the provider support activities/ materials being delivered by Childcare Works and suggest improvements, changes, and additions; b) act as a forum to identify support methods that work with providers; c) identify means of sharing information relating to Childcare Works’ provider support activity across the country with LAs, individual and larger chain providers and providers that are harder to reach; d) identify examples of best practice for other providers and LAs to benefit from, which will be fed into our provider support work. |

Key purpose:
This forum informs the activity Childcare Works carries out under the provider support element of its contract. The group should represent a cross section of school types including MATs. To do this, the group will:
a) Identify methods that work to drive up the participation of schools in the EY expansion and wraparound programme; b) act as a forum to identify support methods that work with schools; c) identify examples of best practice for other schools to benefit from, which will be fed into the provider support work carried out by Childcare Works.

Next meetings will preview our new toolkits which have been created as a one stop shop of signposting to useful resources if providers need to start, grow or sustain their early years expansion or wraparound business. The resources are split in to six categories
Childcare Works has collated information from childcare membership organisations, Government and Government funded organisations, banks, and specialist organisations.
