EY: Introduction to the Early Years Funding Audits from Autumn 2025

Quick Navigation

Sep 24 2025

In line with statutory guidance, the Early Years Funding team will be carrying out funding audits from Autumn 2025 onwards. These funding audits are part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the appropriate use of early years funding and providers are meeting the requirements of their provider agreement.

Funding audits will support early years providers to identify areas of good practice as well as opportunities for development.

Providers may be selected for audit at any time which will cover a range of areas including:

    • accuracy of funded hours claimed
    • validity and completeness of parent/carer declarations
    • child attendance
    • compliance with the provider agreement
    • child eligibility

Full cooperation with the funding audit process is required as per our provider agreement however, providers will be notified in advance of any planned funding audit.
